*crispy waffle*

I hate to admit it, but I actually watched FOX's show Kitchen Confidential last night. (Hey, I just kept the TV on after one of my fave shows, Arrested Development.) The show is a fictionalized version of Anthony Bourdain's famous book. Instead of Tony Bourdain, there is "Jack Bourdain", and instead of Les Halles, the restaurant is a fictional "Nolita". The show stinks like Camembert: lame acting and poorly written in a trying-too-hard-to-be-witty-and-ironic sort of way. It also sadly reminds me of two of my past fave shows: Xander from Buffy is the pastry chef (and is looking like he's eaten too much pastry) and Sam from Freaks and Geeks (who has gone through puberty since then, without positive results) is an apprentice. Anthony Bourdain is annoying enough in real life-- (see his annoying "I'm cool" Travel Channel show. Dude, could you look any sadder and older in your lame ripped jeans and CBGB t-shirt?)-- did we have to see a younger (albeit much better-looking) fictionalized version of him? I am tapped out on this guy.

That said, I'll still give it a second chance-- but that's it! Better yet, I think I'll rent actual good food movies: Dinner Rush (for the restaurant politics), Big Night (for the family politics and the overindulging), and Eat Drink Man Woman (to make me hungry).
